A thumb-sized crystal of deep purple set into a bronze clasp. A sturdy bronze chain is affixed to one clasp, so that the shard can be worn as a pendant. Three times per day, a shadow shard can be used to target one creature who does not use the Shadow Weave (typically creatures who cannot attune to this artifact), the target must make a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw or be affected by one of the following effects.
If the creature has the spellcasting feature, that creature is reduced to 1d4 hit points and cannot use this feature or any spell-like abilities for one hour as long as it remains within 60 feet of the shadow shard. However, if the creature does not have the spellcasting feature, that creature instantly dies and raises as a shadowslain version of itself (gaining the features and traits below). The creature is not controlled or charmed by the user of the shadow shard in any way by this effect.
Your creature type becomes undead, you gain darkvision of 60 feet, resistance to necrotic damage, and the following traits;
Shadowstuff Armor. The shadowslain is shrouded in a semisolid armor of shadowstuff that increases its AC by 2.
Shadow Blend. While in dim light or darkness, the shadowslain can use a bonus action to become invisible, along with anything it is wearing or carrying. The invisibility lasts until the shadowslain uses a bonus action to end it or until the shadowslain attacks, is in bright light, or is incapacitated.
Turn Resistance. The shadowslain has advantage on saving throws against any effect that turns undead.
Weave Drain. When another creature casts a spell within 10 feet of the shadowslain, regain a number of hit points equal to 5 times the level of the spell being cast. Additionally, the caster cannot cast that spell again until they take a short or long rest.
Light Sensitivity. While in bright light, the shadowslain has disadvantage on attack rolls, as well as on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight.
Notes: Resistance: Necrotic, Bonus: Armor Class, shadow magic sorcerer, hexblade warlock, way of shadow monk, and/or a shadar-kai elf who must be a worshiper of shar.
