"In the winding streets of the Empire, one must always keep an eye out for thieves, brigands, and beggars looking to separate you from your coin. While most can be shooed off if discovered, or even sent on their way with a firm slap as their fingers reach for your purse, some may be looking to put up more of a fight for even a bag of coppers. Desperation breeds creativity, especially in the case of their weaponry, which has become so formulaic and widespread that they must be sourced from somewhere more...organized." -Praefecti Morrigan of the Ninth Foot Legion, Captain of the Guard
Wristbow
ranged weapon (martial, hand crossbow), Rare
A weapon of exceedingly cunning craftsmanship, the wristbow is tuned like a clock, with intricate wiring and mechanisms that move as if they are perpetually greased. Mounted at the wrist, usually on the nondominant hand, the wristbow serves as a ranged option to thieves and assassins looking to stay armed as discreetly as possible, if they can afford the weapon's high pricetags. Attacks made with this weapon have a +1 to both attack and damage rolls, increased to a +2 for both if the target is wearing no armor. Additionally, if the wielder attempts the Hide action on a turn, even if they have already made an attack roll or expended an action they may have a bonus action to attack with the wristbow.
The wristbow may be worn perpetually even if a shield or other weapon occupies the hand it is worn upon, however, the wielder must have a free hand in order to fire, whether through sheathing their current weapon or removing their shield from use. However, the wristbow reloads mechanically after firing, meaning that no turns or actions have to be expended in order to reload.
Proficiency with a Hand Crossbow allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Vex. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to the creature, you have Advantage on your next attack roll against that creature before the end of your next turn.
