Attunement. When a creature wields Witherblade for the first time, it must succeed on a DC 20 Charisma saving throw or become paralyzed by the blade. After 1 minute in this condition, the wielder is contacted and must succeed on another DC 20 Charisma saving throw or become charmed by the devil prince, who proceeds to convince it to make a pact. The attunement process may be interrupted by breaking the paralysis, or a successful disarm.
Vessel. Once the pact has been made, the wielder is cursed, and the devil prince is granted free passage into its mind, becoming able to see through its eyes and whisper directly to it.
The wielder is incapable of directly or indirectly damaging, or letting go of Witherblade, but may try to break the pact by making a DC 20 Charisma saving throw once per long rest. On 3 consecutive successes, the pact is broken. On 3 consecutive failures, the wielder becomes permanently subjugated to the devil prince. The pact may also be broken by destroying the blade — it can only be permanently affected by radiant damage.
Leech. +4 to hit, reach 15 ft., one creature. Hit: 6 (1d8 + 2) necrotic damage. The target must succeed on a DC 13 Constitution saving throw or the wielder is healed by the same amount. On a success, the wielder is healed by half the amount.
Proficiency with a Greatsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Graze. If your attack roll with this weapon misses a creature, you can deal damage to that creature equal to the ability modifier you used to make the attack roll. This damage is the same type dealt by the weapon, and the damage can be increased only by increasing the ability modifier.
