This wonderous item comes in a set of 25 in a small, paperboard box that slides open. One edge of the box has a strip of material that is of a rough texture. This box contains 25 two-inch long thinly cut but otherwise sturdy twigs (akin to thick toothpicks, but without a pointy end). One end of this twig is coated with an alchemical formula. If the alchemical formula of the twig is dragged against the rough side of the paperboard box, a chemical reaction will occur, causing the alchemical end of the twig to begin burning.

The twig can then be used for purposes such as lighting a candle, lantern, pipe, or other small object. It can also be thrown a short distance (10 feet or less). Once lit, the twig burns for up to 15 seconds unless extinguished prior to the twig burning down to the user's fingers. While burning, the twig sheds dim light in a five-foot radius.The flame from this twig is unusually resilient to being extinguished by force of light wind or even light rain due to its sturdy, alchemical construction, so it could be lit and thrown onto the ground in the area of a grease spell or onto an oil soaked surface, lighting the surface on fire. 

If the paperboard box and its contents should ever become submerged in any liquid or become exposed to heavy rain for more than five minutes, the remaining tinder twigs will be damaged and can no longer be used.
