The Yari is a large spear that is a primary weapon of Ashigaru in Ashihara. Yari can vary in length, from approximately 4.5 to 6.5 meters in length (15 to 21 feet) and are tipped with a blade usually around one meter in length. The Yari would be used in armies in masse to defend against cavalry, with their usually being two to three rows of soldiers armed with such weapons. The blade of a Yari has an incredibly wide tang connecting it to the staff of the pike itself, relative to the width of the tip of the blade; this combined with the very heavy steel used in the construction mean that it is nearly impossible for the blade of the pike to fall off or be broken.
Proficiency with a Pike allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
