You have a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.
Wound is a large greatsword with carved notches on the lower portion of the blade. It is extremely difficult to clean blood from the blade itself.
Wound crits on a 19 or 20. When a creature is hit by a critical from Wound, the blade seems to cut deeper than normal, the creature must make a CON Saving throw of DC 14, on a failed save the creature takes an additional 1d8 bleeding damage at the end of your turn. They may repeat the saving throw at the end of your next turn, on a failed save they accumulate another d8 of damage. They continue to accumulate d8's of damage until they succeed on the saving throw.
Proficiency with a Greatsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Graze. If your attack roll with this weapon misses a creature, you can deal damage to that creature equal to the ability modifier you used to make the attack roll. This damage is the same type dealt by the weapon, and the damage can be increased only by increasing the ability modifier.
Notes: Bonus: Magic, Damage, Combat, Heavy, Two-Handed, Graze
Good weapon, but it's rarity in realistic terms would be at least Very Rare. A standard +2 weapon is rare, without any abilities. Also, the 'bleeding' damage term does not translate well in 5e. Could you please be more specific? Does the damage occur at the end of your, the wielders turn? Or is it at the end of the target's turn?
Thank you for the feedback! I will update the items rarity and adjust the language to make it more clear. I created this weapon specifically for my barbarian player to receive after completing "Storm King's Thunder" so didn't think very hard about the rarity category. I'm glad you like it!
It seems that DnDBeyond is having a little bit of a bug with homebrew magic item creation right now, so here is the new description in the mean time.
"You have a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.
Wound is a large greatsword with carved notches on the lower portion of the blade. The sword seems to hunger for blood and as such It is extremely difficult to clean blood from the blade itself, giving it a crimson hue.
Wound crits on a 19 or 20. When a creature is hit by a critical from Wound, the blade cuts deeper than normal, the creature must make a CON Saving throw of DC 14, on a failed save the creature takes an additional 1d8 bleeding damage at the end of their turn. The target may repeat the saving throw at the start of their next turn, on a failed save they accumulate another d8 of damage, this damage occurs at the end of the target creatures turn. They continue to accumulate d8's of damage until they succeed on the saving throw. The damage type for the bleeding damage is the same as the weapon. Creatures that cannot bleed, such as elementals, are immune to the bleeding effects of Wound, but all other effects and bonuses remain the same."
Item type is now Legendary.
