Wyn Ath Avae'mhaor is a magical longbow made by Drow master craftsmen and enchanted by high priestesses to fulfill the will of Lolth. It is made of thin, dark wood covered with an extruding spiderweb pattern in white. The bow can produce a thin strand of silk in order to string itself in one or more places. Strumming it when strung makes a similar sound to that of a harp. It can be used as a musical instrument and as an arcane focus by bards when strung in several places.
The bow has 8 charges and can expend them in multiple ways-
- As an action, an attuned creature holding the weapon may mentally command it to produce a thick rope of spider silk. The length of this rope goes for a total of 10 feet per charge expended as part of this action. Alternatively, you may choose to shoot an arrow at a non-living object or surface as part of the same action. If you do and the distance between the object and yourself in less than or equal to the total length of rope produced, the web wraps around and firmly attaches to both the bow and the surface, only being able to be removed by the attuned creature willing it to be or another creature making a DC 23 Strength check. Every 10 foot segment of a web created by this feature has an AC of 18, 20 HP, and an immunity to all damage aside from Force, Fire, Acid, and magical Slashing damage. Web created by this feature turns to ash 2 hours after its creation. Aside from this, it behaves no different from ordinary rope.
- Alternatively, as part of an attack, 3 charges may be expended to imbue an arrow with a similar magical property. If the arrow hits, it explodes into a mass of thinner webbing, covering the target. A creature covered in webbing is restrained until the start of your next turn.
At the end of a long rest, the attuned creature can touch the weapon, causing it to regain 1d8 expended charges.
Whenever this bow, while wielded by an attuned creature, lands the killing blow on another creature one of two things happens. If the kill was favored by Lolth, a permanent small white dot appears upon the skin of the attuned creature, while a black one appears on the body of the deceased. These white marks, as they amass, are connected via thin white lines, forming into a pattern reminiscent of a web or constellation. If the kill wasn't Lolth's will and the attuned creature has any of these white dots, the most recent one will burst as if pierced through, but will be immediately covered by a scar accompanied by a momentary burning sensation, as if the wound were immediately seared shut as soon as it was inflicted.
In addition to it's unique features, the bow is able to temporarily consume the magic of another magical weapon. To do this, an attuned creature must preform an 8 hour ritual over the course of a long rest while touching both weapons. If the bow already has a different weapon absorbed when you complete this ritual, it's magic is released and returns to the original weapon. An absorbed weapon transfers any bonus to attack and damage rolls to the bow as well as up to one feature of the DM's choice. Wyn Ath Avae'mhaor cannot absorb the magic of other artifacts or unique weapons.
Proficiency with a Longbow allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Slow. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to it, you can reduce its Speed by 10 feet until the start of your next turn. If the creature is hit more than once by weapons that have this property, the Speed reduction doesn’t exceed 10 feet.
Notes: Restrained, by a Drow bard, Damage, Combat, Ammunition, Heavy, Range, Two-Handed, Slow
