This mechanical handbow is capable of shooting a bolt the same as any other hand crossbow, but with an additional engineering marvel. It has an air compressed chamber that can be charged and fired to shoot a globule of a sticky acrid substance, referred to as "Wyvern Spit," in addition to the standard bolt. This is a dark green jelly that sticks to surfaces, and when exposed to air quickly begins to effervesce and cause chemical burns.
The substance and vapors also happen to be combustible if exposed to fire (see "bomb") before it fully evaporates (before your next turn).
The Wyvern Spit is, unfortunately, limited in capacity. After a dozen shots it will need to be refilled by a skilled alchemist. The components for a refill cost around 1200 gold.
Proficiency with a Hand Crossbow allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Vex. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to the creature, you have Advantage on your next attack roll against that creature before the end of your next turn.
