A variant of the Elite plasmacaster, this handheld plasmacaster is a last resort configuration should the shoulder type get damaged. Those of a more innovative nature, are capable of making this configuration, such as elites. The weapon serves as a pump-action weapon, like the large caliber weapon, however once it's been pumped, the weapon will give off several beep sounds before a ping is heard. This is how the weapon recharges and once the ping sounds, it is ready to fire. The weapon's trigger mechanism is unknown, but it could be either a thumb or index finger accessible trigger. The blast is able to blast the head off a full grown Xenomorph is properly targeted.
It’s up to you to decide whether a character has proficiency with a firearm. Characters in most D&D worlds wouldn’t have such proficiency. During their downtime, characters can use the training rules in the Player’s Handbook to acquire proficiency, assuming that they have enough ammunition to keep the weapons working while mastering their use.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Vex. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to the creature, you have Advantage on your next attack roll against that creature before the end of your next turn.
Notes: Damage, Combat, Range, Ammunition (Firearms), Reload, Vex
