Xyxlwood arrows take nature-based enchantments exceedingly well and have been crafted with a plethora of effects. After an effect triggers, it can’t trigger again until the arrow spends 8 hours buried in soil. Roll a d3 to determine the effect of each xyxlwood arrow:
Tanglestrike. Fired at the ground, grasping weeds and thorny vines sprout in a 10-foot-radius sphere centred on where the arrow strikes for the next minute. The area becomes difficult terrain for the duration and each creature within the area must succeed on a DC 14 Strength saving throw or be subjected to the effects of the entangle spell.
Bramblestrike. On a hit, this magic arrow deals the weapon’s normal damage and the target must succeed on a DC 14 Strength saving throw or become restrained by magical vines for up to 1 minute as per the ensnaring strike spell (no concentration required).
Splinterstrike. On a hit, this magic arrow deals the weapon’s normal damage and then erupts in a storm of splinters and thorns. Each creature within 5 feet of the target must succeed on a DC 14 Dexterity saving throw or take 1d10 piercing damage.
