Weapon (longsword), rare (requires attunement by a monk)

The blade of this katana-like sword is shattered into a thousand fragments. To the untrained eye, it is useless, but each shard can be controlled individually using its wielder's Ki. Thus, only one able to control their Ki can wield it effectively. If the blade is used by an unattuned character, it will shatter on contact with a solid surface, and rendered useless until the attuned character uses a bonus action to recombine the shards. Additionally, the wielder can will the hilt of the sword to return to them as part of that bonus action.

Through separation, the blade can be extended and manipulated to perform otherwise-impossible attacks. Attacks with this weapon have a reach of 10ft, and ignore AC bonuses from shields, the Shield spell, and similar AC-enhancing effects (it is at the DM's discretion whether other effects could feasibly be negated).

As an action on their turn, the wielder may spend a number of Ki points and select a number of creatures up to 1 + the number of Ki points spent. The wielder then makes attack and damage rolls against each of these creatures, as though they had been attacked as normal using the sword.

Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
