Ring, very rare (requires attunement by a Rogue)

Set with a large central ornate black stone, this modest but meticulously crafted ring shimmers with a shadowy light that seems to invert and pull the light that comes into contact with it inward, swallowing it whole. Its aura isn't menacing, however, but rather strangely reassuring. It pulses through the wearer a sense of familiarity and calls their mind to one other who they know all too well.

While wearing the ring, the wearer gains darkvision to a range of 60 feet if they do not already have it.

Honor Amongst Thieves. While attuning to this item (or re-attuning), you can touch one creature near enough to touch and use the magic of this ring to activate and bind the central stone's magic to that creature. After doing so you gain the following benefits:

  • With a moment of focus, you are aware of that creature's overall health and safety. While focusing in this way, you can feel its injuries and any intense emotions being experienced as if they were your own.
  • You become immediately aware if the creature dies.
  • You gain the ability to activate the Not Over Yet feature of this ring, described below.

This ring has 4 charges for the following properties. It regains 1d4 expended charges daily at dawn.

Peephole. You can remove the Thief's Heart from your finger and place it against a wall expend 1 charge as an action to see through it to the other side, as if through a peephole. The "peephole" is not visible on the other side of the surface, except to a creature able to see invisibility, and is a purely magical effect. This effect works through up to 6 feet of stone or wood.

Wink. As an action, you can expend 2 charges to look through the Thief's Heart and wink. Doing so allows you to see through illusions, see through invisibility, and see into the Ethereal plane for one minute.

Pocket Sight. As an action, you can expend 4 charges to activate an altered state of vision for 1d4x10 minutes. During this window of time looking at an individual grants you immediate insight into the value of the items they're carrying. You don't know the specific names or magical properties of items they carry but do have a sense of their general worth and quantity. Until this effect ends you have advantage on Sleight of Hand checks made on targets you've examined in this way.

Not Over Yet. As an action, you can activate the stone set into the Thief's Heart. Doing so permanently dissolves the stone and casts Resurrection on the creature the stone is bound to (see Honor Amongst Thieves, above). The Resurrection spell functions as it normally would, but you have advantage on the final roll to determine if the ritual is successful.
