An orange sized sphere. Grey in color wrapped in silver bands. There is a small button about the size of a dime.
Target creature must be under 1/4 health to use this item. Upon pressing the button, the ball levitates and fires a beam at a target creature. The user must make a D20 roll + proficiency + animal handling roll against the targets constitution score. If the user succeeds the roll the target is absorbed by the beam and encapsulated into the sphere.
The creature can be released at any time and treats the user and its allies as friends.
Captured creatures retain their health from any previous combat until they complete a long rest inside the sphere. The creature cannot be healed through spells but can be healed with potions. They can also be revived by the revive spell.
The user only has a certain number of attempts to capture the target creature depending on their CR. CR 1-4 has 4 tries, CR 5-8 has 3 tries, CR 9-12 has 2 tries, and 13+ has 1 try. If all attempts have been expended and it still isn't caught, any more attempts to capture the creature automatically fail. The failures are tied to the creature not the user so if another person has this item as well, they can't try to capture the target creature if someone else has used all the attempts.
As a reaction you can attempt to recall your monster if it's about to be hit in combat. If they make a DC 13 Dex check, they recall the monster. Otherwise they are hit in combat.
