Woodrow's Magic Mirror (Legendary Artifact, requires attunement)
6 charges, 1d4+2 charges replenished every dawn
A beautiful hand mirror of silver-plated bronze, its frame engraved with faces and a very ornate handle with a smaller mirror on the grip.
A DC 18 Arcana check on the large mirror will determine this is a Mirror of Sight, known for 2 abilities:
- The mirror will let you communicate with one named individual at a cost of 2 charges for every 10 minutes of communication both visually and verbally through the mirror's glass.
- The mirror will reflect the image of all individuals within 30 feet of the wielder while the handle is touched and store them for 24 hours. Using the command word 'display' and at a cost of 2 charges, the wielder may choose an individual from the collected images to display as a stationary visual illusion for 1 minute of study.
Attuning to this artifact for 1 hour, you learn that with this modified ring in place and at the cost of 4 charges, the held mirror can reflect back a spell of 3rd level or lower targeting only yourself back at the caster, and that expenditure of 1 additional charge will increase the level of the spell it can reflect by one (1) to a maximum of level 5. The mirror's wielder must choose the number of charges to expend before an attack roll or saving throw is made.
A DC 18 Arcana check to the smaller mirror on the grip will determine that it belongs to a Ring of Spelling Turning, but it's been modified.
A DC 18 Investigation check on the ring will show that the ring is modified to be part of the mirror's handle, but it can be removed in its entirety without breaking either the mirror or ring. Testing the ring off of the mirror proves the ring will not act as a spell reflector.
If studied by an expert in artifacts, this is determined to be the legendary rogue thief, Diath Woodrow's, magic mirror. An enthusiast of fine magic rings, he's known to have owned several and used the mirror in his heists to obtain new ones. Oddly enough, his mirror could never be identified, as its design was rarely the same twice, and no one knows why. [Different magic rings slotted into the ring spot changes the style of the mirror and its secondary abilities, and re-attuning with a new magic ring slotted will determine its new secondary abilities].
