This katana depicts crashing waves engraved along its blade, and gives a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it. Additionally, whenever a creature targets you with a melee weapon attack, you may use your reaction to make a contested attack roll. If your attack roll is equal to or higher, then you may choose a different creature within 5 feet of you and the attacker for triggering attack to target instead. If you choose for it to not target another creature, or there are no other creatures to target, then the attack misses.

Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
