The glaive looks as though it was forged from the rising sun. Bright, golden, and made entirely of celestial metal that will never break. It emanates a bright light in a 30 ft. radius. The scimitar-like blade is brighter than the most finely polished silver, and has a razor-sharp edge that is perfect for cutting through the scaly hide of a dragon. The handle is a bright gold, with delicate carvings of the Monkey God's exploits along its length. The weight of it feels. . . perfect. No smith could improve upon its balance or its movement. Its weight seems to shift perfectly with your intentions, almost as though it responds to your battle instincts.
Thousands of years ago, a great calamity befell the Hanuman tribe in the form of a great yellow dragon, named Shui Siwang, who could summon hurricanes, naming itself the foe of the tribe and their patron deity. The Hanuman were near total annihilation at Siwang's hand when a champion, Tang Sun was chosen from among them. The Apeling pledged to fight for his tribe no matter the foe. The Monkey God bestowed upon Tang Sun the weapon Ruyi Jingu Yanyuedao, a glaive that would help grant him the power to fend off their would-be destroyer until it was possible for the Monkey God to aid him in defeating Siwang once and for all.
Weapon in hand, Tang Sun leapt into battle with Siwang. The battle raged for three days and two nights. Siwang was powerful, commanding the water to envelop and crush Tang Sun. But Tang Sun was too quick for the sea to keep hold of him. Aided by his Golden Patron, the champion dealt powerful blows to his foe, but his scales and hide were tough. At the sunset of the third day, the Tang Sun finally dealt a heavy blow to Shui Siwang. He cleaved a deep gash from its right shoulder to its left hind leg. Siwang let out a roar of terrible pain and fury. He wheeled away, attempting to retreat and heal in safety. In that moment, the champion sent a fervent plea to the Monkey God, praying for his aid to banish the beast from this plane.
Finally, the Champion had proven himself worthy to summon the full aid of the Monkey God. The young deity descended once again to the mortal plane, a brilliant avatar, the apex of his people. Tang Sun, invigorated by the sight of His Golden Fur, leapt into battle once more to vanquish Siwang once and for all. The ensuing battle was short and swift. The two seemed like a pair of golden flashes to the dragon. One cut through his scales, while the other bashed him with what seemed like the strength of a thousand dragons. Siwang knew he would not last long under the onslaught, so he prepared a final, devastating attack, meaning to take as much of the Hanuman with him as he could. Realization dawning, the Golden One summoned forth the full power of his divinity, and banished him from this plane. As he disappeared into a void, Shui Siwang, his voice as powerful and cold as a blizzard of the deep north, promised that he would one day return to Hanuman for his vengeance. He would return, and destroy the island, and the Apelings who dwelt there.
