This golden coin-like token was created amongst a chest of others by Kidda, as one of the tests for one of the first pirate lords to go through to be created. Across the seven seas, 888 devoted pirate captains each found or were given one of these coins, with the expectation that they would return them to the chest where they originated without dying, and the last one standing afterwards would become a pirate lord. This however, would not be the case, as one by one they stole the coins from each other, and slaughtered one another to be the last one standing before even bringing them back first, because they saw the coins' effects as a boon, rather than something to get rid of. Eventually, every coin had been collected by a single captain and his crew, except for one. In order to attune to this item, you must attempt to throw/give it away.
Curse. This token is cursed, and becoming attuned to it extends the curse to you. This curse cannot be removed by any effect lower than a 9th level spell. As long as you remain cursed, you are unwilling to part with the token, keeping it within reach at all times. While you hold it, every day at dawn, you gain one level of exhaustion which cannot be gotten rid of through standard means, but instead of dying at max level exhaustion, your body goes numb, you lose all your other exhaustion effects, you are unable to show signs of bleeding or obvious injury, you no longer need to breathe, you are unable to eat or drink, you can no longer die of starvation or thirst, and you can no longer fail death saving throws. There is a price to pay for all of this however, as you cannot smell or taste anything but numb cold, your body is unable to feel warmth, and you still feel pain even while not being able to show it.
