The soul forged katana is a family heirloom of the Himura Dragon Clan. A sword originally forged with the help of the descendent Misthaven Human bloodline. The first Himura sacrificed a portion of his very soul essence into the blade so that the blade would live through time. ensuring it made its way to only the most worthy of Himura Samurai. Each time a new member unlocked the true power of the katana, the previous soul would now rest in peace and pass on its responsibility to the new owner. The prior soul infused, was that of Taka Himura.
Two Weapons in One. This sword is both Katana and Tanto and counts as one item. The Tanto (offhand weapon) still benefits from all the below features)
Soul Infused. Once the sword has been passed, a small portion of your very essence becomes attached to this weapon. You know where the weapon is located at all times, regardless of plane. At the end of each long rest, the sword reappears back at your side.
Unworthy Wielder. Only you can effectively wield the Katana. If another creature, other than you, wields the sword, all attacks are made at disadvantage and the wielder is not considered proficient.
Stage One
- Your sword gains a +1 to attack and damage rolls
- The sword is considered magical for the purposes of overcoming resistances and immunity to non-magical weapons.
- A critical hit with this weapon does an additional 1d8 damage.
Stage Two
- Your sword gains a +2 to attack and damage rolls
- Your sword gains the defender property but with the current +2 bonus, rather than the +3 stated in the defender description.
- When focusing on your Katana or Tanto, you can use a bonus action to sense the presence of other creatures within 30ft of it. This weapon is part of your soul. If you die, part of your soul remains infused into this weapon. So long that the weapon remains on your person, you can be revived at half the gold cost needed. If you are not revived, it becomes your duty, after life, to ensure that only another member of the Humira bloodline worthy enough, wields this weapon. Only then, can you fully pass on into the afterlife. The sword loses all of its properties and returns to the properties of a normal longsword for anyone other than the Humira bloodline.
Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Sap. If you hit a creature with this weapon, that creature has Disadvantage on its next attack roll before the start of your next turn.
