Weapon (dagger), legendary (requires attunement by a creature who has sworn a pact of anti-magic)

Forged as a collaborative last ditch effort to redirect the flow of fate, Zelnurlo is a sentient magic force which has taken the form of a weapon that can rend the fabric of magic itself.

Zelnurlo has a solid steel handle etched with unaligned semi circles, molded to be easily gripped by a humanoid hand with an Onyx set into the pommel. The business end is a deep grey which swirls when moved as if it were a flask filled with liquid mercury.

Non-magical. Despite being a magic weapon, Zelnurlo does not count as magical for the purpose of dealing damage with this weapon. The shield spell provides no defense against the weapon however, which passes through that spell’s barrier of magical force.

Spell Drain. When you hit a creature which possesses spell slots, that creature must make a DC 20 Charisma Saving Throw or have its lowest available spell slot consumed as the Weave around them is torn asunder.

Weave's Bane. A creature wielding Zelnurlo can use the weapon to invoke the effect of Dispel Magic and Counterspell at will, though the range for both spell effects is 5 feet and does not count as casting a spell. Only an anti-magic field can disable this feature. The creature can use either their spellcasting ability or their Constitution modifier for ability checks made when using these spell effects. 

Barrier Breaker. This weapon can also be used to attack powerful barriers made by spells such as Wall of Force. When making a melee attack roll with Zelnurlo on the barrier, on a critical hit, the barrier is destroyed.

Transient Form. As a bonus action, the wielder can request Zelnurlo to take a new form. While the hilt cannot change shape, the blade can re-mold itself into a new shape. Zelnurlo can take the form of any simple or martial melee weapon until it is requested to take a new form.

Knot Knell. As an action, the wielder can invoke the effect of the Antimagic Field spell. This does not count as casting a spell though it does require concentration. Once you use this feature, it cannot be used again until the wielder takes a long rest.

Sentience. Zelnurlo is a sentient lawful neutral weapon with an Intelligence of 20, a Wisdom of 20, and a Charisma of 20. It has hearing and darkvision out to a range of 120 feet.

The weapon communicates telepathically with its wielder and can speak, read, and understand Common. It has a calm, assuring voice. The weapon can sense the presence of spellcasters within 120 feet of it.

Personality. Zelnurlo is sworn to destroy Undermountain, and it desires to be wielded by a law-abiding person willing to dedicate everything to the destruction of the knot in the Weave. The weapon is patient and takes its time finding its ideal wielder.

If someone tries to use Zelnurlo against its will, the weapon can use its reaction to drain the magic of one magic item worn by the wielder for 24 hours or remove one of the wielder's available spell slots (its choice).

Pact of Anti-magic. Zelnurlo will only allow itself to be wielded by those who are willing to renounce magic in all its forms and has promised to destroy the knot in The Weave. This pact is broken if the creature ends attunement to Zelnurlo or they willingly use/equip a magic item other than Zelnurlo or cast a spell. A creature who breaks the Pact of anti-magic immediately loses attunement to Zelnurlo and must make a DC 20 Constitution saving throw. On a fail, they die.

Proficiency with a Dagger allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.


This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Nick. When you make the extra attack of the Light property, you can make it as part of the Attack action instead of as a Bonus Action. You can make this extra attack only once per turn.
