Weapon (longbow), uncommon (requires attunement)

This is a beautiful silver bow. On the tips the silver turns to a frosty white. You can feel the bowstring courses with magical power and gives off a slight fog that can be seen if you look closely at the bowstring. Touching the string reveals it to be unnaturally cold.

When you make an attack with this bow, you can choose to speak or whisper the Command word, Chill, as you shoot the arrow. If the attack hits,  it deals normal damage and slows down the enemy, reducing their speed by 10 ft until the end of the enemy's next turn. This can be used on each attack granted by the Extra Attack feature and can stack.

Alternatively, as an action you can focus and channel your magic into the bow by speaking or whispering the Command word, Freeze.  If you do, you can expend one 1st level spell slot to sheath the arrow in frosty magic and make a Normal attack roll to hit your target. If your attack hits, 2d4 cold damage is dealt in addition to the normal damage. Additionally, the target must make a Constitution (CON) saving throw against your spellcasting DC. On a failure the target's speed is reduced to 0.  The target can repeat the Constitution (CON) saving throw at the end of each of it's turns. On a success, the target shakes the chill and is no longer affected by this speed reduction.

If you fuel this magic with a spell slot of level 2 or higher,  the damage increases by 1d4 and the save DC increases by +2 for each spell slot above level 1. The focus required for this magical attack means it takes your Action and an Extra Attack cannot be made.

Additionally, the magic courses entirely through the bowstring itself. As such, if desired,  the bowstring can be transferred to another bow by someone proficient in both longbows and the bow the bowstring is being transferred to. In this case the new bow slowly takes on the coloring of Winter's Wind over the course of the next week.

Proficiency with a Longbow allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

Slow. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to it, you can reduce its Speed by 10 feet until the start of your next turn. If the creature is hit more than once by weapons that have this property, the Speed reduction doesn’t exceed 10 feet.
