When attuning to this magic longsword, the wielder can choose either their Intelligence, Charisma, or Wisdom as the ability for this weapon’s various features.
This magic weapon is lined with ornate carvings along its reverse edge and handle. It seemingly feels lighter than air; wielding it feels less like swinging a weapon and more like guiding it with one's intuition.
You are proficient with this weapon. While attuned, the wielder can use the chosen ability instead of Strength for attack and damage rolls made with this weapon. Additionally, it gains a bonus to its damage rolls equal to the chosen ability modifier.
As a bonus action, the wielder can toss this magic sword into the air and speak its name. When you do so, the sword begins to hover, flies up to 30 feet, and makes one attack against one creature of your choice within 5 feet of it. Once on each of your turns while the sword hovers, you can mentally command it (no action required) to fly up to 30 feet to another spot within 30 feet of you and cause it to make one attack against one creature within 5 feet of it.
- You can take attacks of opportunity from the weapon’s location. Additionally, while the sword hovers, you can use your reaction to cause the sword to deflect a weapon attack made against you. When commanding the sword to attack, roll 2d10 + the chosen ability modifier and reduce the damage of that attack by the total. In order for the sword to deflect an attack, it must be within 5 feet of you or the attacking creature. If this reduces the damage of the attack to 0, Xyrkon can make one attack against the attacking creature, as part of the same reaction, if it is within 5 feet of the target. This attack does not count against the number of attacks Xyrkon can make.
- After the hovering sword attacks or deflects a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, it flies up to 30 feet and tries to return to your hand. If you have no hand free, it automatically sheathes itself in its scabbard. If the sword has no unobstructed path to you, it moves as close to you as it can and then falls to the ground. It also ceases to hover if you grasp it or move more than 30 feet away from it.
The sword has two uses. After the sword ceases hovering for the second time, you cannot command it to do so again for the next 1d4 hours, after which the sword regains all expended uses.
Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Sap. If you hit a creature with this weapon, that creature has Disadvantage on its next attack roll before the start of your next turn.
