Weapon (rapier), artifact (requires attunement)

This artifact is gifted to those who prove that they are Friends of the Fey and Defenders of the Feywilds.

The blade of this weapon is made from a large thorn. The hilt is wrapped in thorny vines that serve to protect the wielder's hand and prevent anyone who is not worthy from using the artifact.

When you make an attack with this weapon you can give it the reach property, as the vines on the hilt grow and extend to strike your foe. This feature can only be used once per turn.

The wielder of this artifact has advantage on any social interactions with the Fey, the denizens of the Feywilds, or any creature associated with the Feywilds.

When someone not attuned to this artifact attempts to draw this weapon, the vines that serve as the basket hilt will lash out and deal 5d10 piercing damage plus an additional 1d10 piercing damage every subsequent time they attempt to draw the weapon. This feature can be bypassed once per attempt with the express permission of the person attuned to the weapon.

A person who attempts to steal this weapon will take 5d10 piercing damage when they take the weapon. The thief will take 5d10 damage every minute, plus an additional 2d10 piercing damage for every hour that has passed since the weapon was stolen. Until the weapon is returned the thief will be unable to let go of the weapon, as the thorny vines wrap around their arm. The damage caused by this feature can be healed but, until the weapon is returned to its rightful owner, the wounds themselves will not close as they drip and leave a continuous blood trail that can be used to track the thief.

This artifact can only be destroyed by the effects of a Wish spell, which will leave behind a seed. This seed also serves as proof that the owner is a Friend of the Fey and a Defender of the Feywilds.

The owner can plant this seed at the base of a tree in the heart of the Feywilds where, after 1d3 sunrises and/or sunsets have passed, a single wild rose will grow. The owner can then prick their finger on one of the thorns, taking 1d10 piercing damage, and let a drop of blood fall on the heart of the rose. The rose will then wrap around its owner's hand, turning back into a Thorn Blade.

Proficiency with a Rapier allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Vex. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to the creature, you have Advantage on your next attack roll against that creature before the end of your next turn.

Notes: Finesse, Vex
