Wondrous Item, legendary (requires attunement by a creature proficient in airborne vehicles)

Thingizzard’s night balloon is a large, black hot air balloon (can carry up to 4 or 5 Medium creatures and up to 500 pounds, flying speed 90 feet; halved if carrying 501 lb. or more; cannot carry more than 800 lb.) capable of floating safely through the layers of the Abyss*. The only known instructions for how to build one are in a very rare book entitled Thingizzard’s Night Balloon: A Journey Through the Abyss. Any demon that can see the balloon is frightened, with CR 5 and higher demons having to make a Wisdom save or be frightened (DC=20 minus {their CR minus 5}, so a CR 6 demon would make a DC 19 save, while a CR 5 demon would make a DC 20 one) by the balloon, even if they normally have immunity to being frightened. Demon lords are immune to this effect. The balloon itself is a Huge object with AC 11, 45 hit points, immunity to poison, psychic, necrotic, fire, and acid damage, resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, slashing, lightning, and cold damage, and vulnerability to radiant damage. The basket is a Large object that can fit up to 5 (more comfortably, 4) Medium or Small creatures, or 8 (uncomfortably, 10) Tiny creatures, with an AC of 14, 70 hit points, immunity to poison, psychic, necrotic, and cold damage, resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, slashing, and acid damage, and vulnerability to fire and radiant damage. Destroying the balloon causes the basket to fall.

*all 'natural' effects of the Abyss, including optional planar rules such as Abyssal Corruption and Psychic Dissonance, are negated for the occupants of the balloon. Only the one attuned to it can venture outside of it without experiencing the effects. In addition, only the one attuned to it can steer it.
