Yota Kumoi was a composed and practical human fighter and member of the company of adventurers, known as the Order of the Sot Equus, that defended Faerûn from the rise of the Dragon Queen Tiamat. Originally from Kara-Tur, Yota joined the group in Waterdeep to assist them with the problematic Cult of the Dragon's situation. His agreement on the sense of justice with Bahamut, after witnessing the atrocities of Tiamat's worshipers, made him undergo the transformation into a dragonborn of Bahamut soon after her demise.
