The species would never survive in the wild, as it depletes its food source too fast for it to maintain a larger population. The starved troop is temporarily dormant while inside the vial, and must be fed every day with organic material the size of thumb or die from starvation.

Unleashing even small amounts of the contents in this vial can devastate an ecosystem let alone a creature. Holding this item grants a 7th-level druid access to the spell 'Nature's Reclamation'.

Nature's Reclamation can be cast once before the troop must be fed and then left dormant during a long rest.
