Weapon (maul), very rare (requires attunement)

A Great Mace is a large two-handed mace approximately 6 ft. long and weighing 20 lbs.  This magic weapon is made of Winterstone.  Winterstone is a slate blue colored rock infused with blue glowing crystals mined in the mountains of Algorfell.  The crystals emit a sharp white light that radiates brightly for 20 ft. and dimly for another 20 ft.

The attuned wielder gains the following benefits:

  • +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls plus an additional 2d6 cold damage to melee attacks made with this weapon.
  • Successful melee attacks cause the target to make a DC 14 Constitution saving throw or be instantly frozen solid (paralyzed) for one round.
  • The wielder receives resistance to fire damage.
  • When the weapon is drawn, the wielder can choose to extinguish all nonmagical flames within 30 feet.

Winterstone is bitterly cold and causes 2d6 cold damage every round to anyone holding the item.  Resistance or Immunity to cold damage can mitigate this effect for the wielder.

Proficiency with a Maul allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.


This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Topple. If you hit a creature with this weapon, you can force the creature to make a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 plus the ability modifier used to make the attack roll and your Proficiency Bonus). On a failed save, the creature has the Prone condition.
