Weapon (longsword), artifact (requires attunement)

When the First King of the dwarves created the Axe of the Dwarven Lords, he also, unbeknownst to all but his closest advisors, another legendary weapon: a sword known as Wyrmsbane. This mythic longsword was made for one purpose: to wipe out any evidence that dragons ever existed. Because of this, the sword's final mission will be to destroy itself.

Attunement. In order to attune to Wyrmsbane, one must swallow one pint of true dragon blood. The creature must have been the one who spilled the blood. In addition, if the dragon is still alive, there is a 10% chance that the attunement fails

Magic Weapon. Wyrmsbane is a magic longsword that grants a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it. Against true dragons, the bonus is +6 instead, +5 to other dragons, or +4 to non-dragons that speak or understand Draconic.

Random Properties. Wyrmsbane has the following random properties:

  • 3 minor beneficial properties
  • 1 major beneficial property
  • 2 minor detrimental properties

In the hands of a dragonborn, lizardfolk, kobold, draconic bloodline sorcerer, or drakewarden, the weapon also has 1 major detrimental property. The same is true for other creatures who speak or understand Draconic.

Sentience. Wyrmsbane is a sentient chaotic nuetral weapon with an Intelligence of 13, and Wisdom of 13, and a Charisma of 15. It has hearing and darkvision out to a range of 120 feet.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 The weapon communicates telepathically with it's wielder and can speak, read, and understand Common, Dwarvish, and Draconic.

Bane of Dragons. Whenever an attack is made with Wyrmsbane against a true dragon, it deals an additional 3d12 + 6 slashing damage. It also deals an addition 2d10 + 5 damage to other dragons, and 1d8 + 4 damage to non-dragons who speak or understand Draconic.                                                                                                                                                                              If the sword's wielder is a dragonborn, lizardolk, kobold, draconic bloodline sorcerer, drakewarden, or other creature that speaks or understands Draconic, whenever it makes an attack with Wyrmsbane and misses, the new target is itself.

Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Sap. If you hit a creature with this weapon, that creature has Disadvantage on its next attack roll before the start of your next turn.
