Weapon (longbow), rare

These bows are designed to hinder flying foes. The first of these bows was called Sventaustrat, crafted by an ancient dragonslayer.

When you make an attack with this bow you may choose to take a -5 penalty to your attack roll to attempt to interfere with the target's ability to fly. If an attack made with this penalty hits a creature that is using wings or similar non-magical means of flight, their flying speed is reduced by 10 feet. If this reduces their flying speed to 0 feet and they do not have the ability to hover, the target instantly plummets.

At the end of a hindered creature's turn it may make a Constitution saving throw against a DC equal to 10 + half the amount of piercing damage dealt by the attack that reduced its speed. If a creature is currently affected by multiple reductions from the bow it makes a single saving throw against all current reductions against a DC of the highest damaging hit. On a successful saving throw the creature’s speed is returned to normal.

Proficiency with a Longbow allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Slow. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to it, you can reduce its Speed by 10 feet until the start of your next turn. If the creature is hit more than once by weapons that have this property, the Speed reduction doesn’t exceed 10 feet.

Notes: Very experimental, Control, Ammunition, Heavy, Range, Two-Handed, Slow
