This weapon appears as a shortsword in its base form. It has a hilt & crossguard of pure gold with 5 lettered tiles across the crossguard with the word sword implanted on it.
This weapon has the unique & powerful enchantment to alter its form based on the word on its crossguard. Each tile has the 26 common language letters, and the user may scroll each tile to form a 5 letter word of their choice. When done forming a word, the user will have to confirm their choice by saying the word "Wordplay". A valid word will cause the weapon to reform into whatever that word may be, and grant any abilities/effects associated with said word. A invalid or nonsensical word may do nothing at all, or cause a random effect to occur.
(Valid words & the effects caused by those words will be up to DM discretion.) It takes a bonus action to alter the form of the sword.
The base form sword itself is considered a magic weapon.
Proficiency with a Shortsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Vex. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to the creature, you have Advantage on your next attack roll against that creature before the end of your next turn.
Notes: Bonus: Magic, Finesse, Light, Vex
