This headband is forged of cold black iron in the shape of interlocked bones, Three gems are mounted on the front curve of the mantle: a dull onyx on the left, a bright diamond on the right and a deep red garnet in the center. Legends say this item was the creation of a terrible necromancer tyrant, whose name has been scrubbed from history. Rumors clam that this necromancer expanded the arts of necromancy to a level most mages had never imagined it could go. This tiara is only one of his creations, and one of a few that has been uncovered.
Dormant: The wearer gains darkvision out to a range of 30 feet if it doesn't have this already. This special sight allows the wearer to see through magical darkness as if it were dim light. In addition, the wearer can use an action to sense the number of undead creatures within 30 feet of them. This ability can be used a number of times equal to their proficiency bonus.
Awakened: The range of the wearer's darkvision through magical and non-magical darkness increases to 60 feet. In addition, any undead the wearer summons or controls can add an additional 1d6 necrotic damage to one attack they make in a turn.
Exalted: The range of darkvision increases to 120 feet. In addition, the extra necrotic damage undead creatures can deal increases to 1d8. Finally, As an action, the wearer can summon 4 extraplanar spirits from beyond the grave. This spirits each have 10 AC and 1 hp. Upon being summoned, they immediately rush towards and tag enemies within 30 feet of the wearer. If a creature is tagged by at least one spirit, it cannot benefit from invisibility, and the next attack has advantage on it. Once an attack has been made with advantage on a tagged creature, the spirit disappears. No additional benefit is conferred from having multiple spirits on one creature. Once this feature has been used, it cannot be used again until the next midnight.
