These gauntlets are made from overlapping scales of ironwood bark and vines. The gauntlets have 3 charges and regain 1d3 charges every dawn. A creature attuned to and wearing these gauntlets may use a bonus action to expend a charge and touch a gauntlet to a tree and draw forth a single weapon or 2d4 pieces of ammunition. This can be any simple or martial melee weapon or ammunition with which the creature is proficient, plus a boomerang, shortbow, or longbow, if proficient. There must be a sufficient volume of organic mass present in the tree to produce the weapon or ammunition desired. A large enough vine or other tree-like plant may be targeted at the DM’s discretion.
The wearer may choose to target a plant creature instead of a tree when attempting to use this item. In that case, the gauntlets function as above, but the target plant creature must succeed on a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw or take force damage equal to the damage die of the weapon created, or 1 point of force damage equal to the number of ammunition created. The maximum hit points of the target are then reduced an amount equal to the damage taken. Any hit points lost in this way are regained after a long rest or if the wearer of the gauntlets uses an action to recombine the weapon or ammunition with the target. If the target succeeds on the saving throw, it takes no damage, and no weapon or ammunition is created.
Weapons or ammunition created this way are considered magical for the purposes of overcoming resistances, splinter beyond repair on an Attack Roll of 1, and become unusable after 7 days of existence.
Inspired by the Rootshaper Gauntlets appearing in Amarune’s Almanac 1: Forests, available on dmsguild.
