Weapon (longsword), artifact (requires attunement)

This thin sword appears to be coated in a few inches of glass, the actual blade within is long onyx-black and slender as a whip. Time's Ruin - also known as Ovess'Krun - is a weapon lost in time even when found. It is said to exist somewhere, always in the past, present, and future. Held within the crossguard of the sword is a softly pulsing blue gem.

Sentience. Time's Ruin is a sentient neutral weapon with an Intelligence of 28, a Wisdom of 22, and a Charisma of 20. It has hearing and darkvision out to a range of 120 feet.

The weapon communicates telepathically and verbally with its wielder and can speak, read, and understand all spoken languages.

Personality. Two creatures dwell within the blade. A primal phoenix named Imera the Flame Eternal was used to forge this weapon, however, the creature's immortality has allowed it to reside within Time's Ruin and an ancient sapphire dragon named Tharaensorath the Insatiable Mind lives within the crystal in the hilt of the blade. As a primal creature of destruction and rebirth, Imera desires the blade's destruction so that it might reclaim its true form and fulfill its purpose. Tharaensorath is a dragon of intense curiosity and study, upon learning of a phoenix trapped within the weapon, the dragon transformed itself into a draconic shard and merged with the weapon. Now, using their telepathy to view the phoenix's eternal memory from a time long past, the dragon has been learning and growing its power. The weapon speaks of experiencing the world in all aspects, with little care to the temperament of the individual wielding it.

Command Word. This weapon's command word is Krun-yra. After speaking it, glowing red and blue lines appear upon the onyx blade within. Converging, separating, and tracing to the tip of the blade with no end. Additionally, a blue afterimage of the sword's position appears on the left side of the blade while a red afterimage of the sword's position appears on the right side of the blade. These afterimages always move with the blade and glow faintly.

Dormant

The longsword grants the following benefits in its dormant state:

As a bonus action, while holding this weapon, you can speak the command word Krun-yra, causing the sword to emit a dull purple glow that sheds bright light in a 10-foot radius and dim light for an additional 10-feet. This glow lasts until you use a bonus action to speak the command word again or until you drop or sheath the sword.

  • You gain a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.
  • This longsword counts as a finesse weapon.
  • After speaking this weapon's command word, all of your attacks deal an additional 1d6 force damage.
  • You gain resistance to psychic damage.

Retrograde Motion. At the end of your turn when you took the attack action and attacked with this weapon, you can conjure a number of hovering ethereal blades in your space equal to the number of attacks you made that hit on that turn. While you have ethereal blades in your space, attacks have disadvantage on you. You expend one ethereal blade for each attack that targets you. The ethereal blades last for 1 minute. You can use this feature once per long rest.

Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Sap. If you hit a creature with this weapon, that creature has Disadvantage on its next attack roll before the start of your next turn.

Notes: Bonus: Magic, Damage: Force, Weapon Property: Finesse, Resistance: Psychic, Versatile, Sap
