Weapon (longsword), very rare (requires attunement)

The blade of this longsword is black, with glowing purple lining along each edge. This lining continues down to the handle of the blade in a hexagonal pattern, growing into a dim, uniform glow emanating from the bottom of the hilt. This glow increases as more charges are obtained.

This blade has three primary charges, followed by many secondary charges, which can only be obtained through killing. Each time a creature is killed by this blade, its soul is devoured by the spirit of the blade, causing the blade to become more powerful and gain one charge.

At one charge, the blade gains +1 to all attack and damage rolls made with this weapon.

At two charges, the blade gains +2 to all attack and damage rolls made with this weapon (replaces the +1 from the first charge).

At three charges, the blade deals 1d6 necrotic damage on every hit on top of the affects of the second charge.

At four charges, the blade gains the Conscious Blast feature at its first level.

At each charge above four, the Conscious Blast increases by one level.

Conscious Blast:

Upon reaching four charges, the wielder can use an action to release a wave comprised of the energy of the souls absorbed. With four charges reached, the user can use the first level variant of the blast, forcing a DC 17 CHA saving throw for all selected creatures within a 15 foot cube around the attacker. On a failed save, the targets take 2d10 necrotic damage, or half as much on a successful one. The blast gains one level for every charge gained above 4th, and 1d10 is added to the damage of the blast with each additional charge. Using the conscious blast removes all charges from Thirst.

Whenever the sword gains a charge to reach 8 charges of more, roll a d20. Whenever the roll is below the number of charges, the Conscious Blast is released, dealing damage to all surrounding creatures including the wielder. If the roll is a 1, the sword detonates, dealing 15d10 necrotic damage to all creatures in range.

Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
