Wondrous Item, uncommon
While you wear these boots, your steps make no sound, regardless of the surface you are moving across. You also have advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks that rely on moving silently.
Notes: Advantage: Stealth, Movement, Utility, Deception, Footwear
Won't save ya from the fashion police though.. *said from experience*
Had to cast illusion just to not look like an idiot
Good at negating the Stealth disadvantage from full plate.
These fit my teint
Agreed. These are hard to match to anything. I think I have to invent a transmogrification functionality in my campaign.
That is where Disguise Self comes in to play. Just change the look of them and only them.
Honestly, unless the item is supposed to look ugly, if your DM doesn't let you flavor your wardrobe within reason, ditch'im
Most do, but magic items are different. Some DM's do, some do not. Either way, if it's magic items that you are trying to change, it's meh. Now if they don't let you chose how your normal clothes look, then yes ditch them, otherwise meh. Magic items are supposed to look a certain way, so I get it when they don't let you chose how they look.
Again, if it has something to do with what the item is- like if it's really good, but the drawback is supposed to be that this thing is ugly, then that makes sense. Otherwise, they're being sticklers just to be a stickler.
I feel that bro
I’m trying to pick random magic items to describe as daelkyr creations so I’m better at that if I ever get to run an Eberron campaign.
“Belashyrra, the Lord of Eyes, has sewn horrific visions into these boots. In the aftermath of having noticed someone wearing these, it’s common to miss them anyway after a nightmarish vision of the Plane of Madness, Xoriat, causes you to repress the past few minutes”.
I think I may have gone against the spirit of the item a bit here by making it so that they technically do see you but the memory is erased. I think it’s fine though.
Why is this tagged in Deception? This clearly gives Adv on stealth checks
Stealth is a form of deception.
But honestly if you’re the one making NOTHING in RAW says you can’t make a pair from fine black leather boots!! I mean can you really see a group of drow wearing green boots???
personally i had my wizards robes made from phase spider silk, by upping them one lvl we added Dim door twice a day to the +2 robes at Very Rare!!
If youre a green goblin. Ok
joke!
Not sure exactly why some players seem to think "your steps make no sound" means you cannot be detected.
Dude felt it necessary to argue after rolling a 1 for a total of 0 (8 Dex fighter) that he should still be unnoticed because his steps make no sound. He was under invisibility too, so I guess he thought that would mean he couldn't fail maybe?
I had to explain to him unfortunately the sound didn't come from your steps, you accidentally kicked a small stone down a stone stairwell which made a hell of a lot of noise and now you hear someone coming up the stairs and see a bit of light. As guards tend to do when they hear something out of the ordinary.
With advantage? (It can happen... I have rolled two ones when attacking with advantage, and rolled two 20s attacking with disadvantage. But as DM, I get lots of opportunities to mess with statistics.)
i will have one pair of ugly boots please
they look like veggies
you mean you didn't fashion your outfit to match your boots
