While you wear these boots, your steps make no sound, regardless of the surface you are moving across. You also have Advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks.
Won't save ya from the fashion police though.. *said from experience*
Agreed. These are hard to match to anything. I think I have to invent a transmogrification functionality in my campaign.
This makes absolutely zero sense. Assuming you're the dungeon master, you have the power to do anything you want. You don't need to invent a way for the players to change the appearance of magic items. Just say "I'm the dungeon master, I don't like how they look in the image, these ones the party found look different." The art is not a rule, it is a suggestion. Do you really think drow would wear boots made of green leaves? The Underdark doesn't even have trees! Theirs would probably be made of flexible black leather or something.
Most do, but magic items are different. Some DM's do, some do not. Either way, if it's magic items that you are trying to change, it's meh. Now if they don't let you chose how your normal clothes look, then yes ditch them, otherwise meh. Magic items are supposed to look a certain way, so I get it when they don't let you chose how they look.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think the DMG says "All magic items in any setting you play in look exactly like they do in the illustrations." Magic items look however the DM says the look. Do you really think two smiths on the opposite side of the world would each make a Flame Tongue that look the exact same? When I'm DMing, I write a description for every magic item I include, and it's always quite different than the illustration. Sometimes I even change what type of item it is. I gave one of my players a Wand of the War Mage that was also a Wand of Fireballs and it wasn't even a wand! It was a staff!

Exactly! It's nice to see someone that knows that the image is not representative of every pair of these boots.
