Weapon (javelin), artifact (requires attunement by a ny creature; The attunement is instant if a creature so desires.)

This javelin is the one Zeus, the God of lightning, once created long ago, and which he wielded up until his imprisonment. It is made of pure lightning. Any creature other than Zeus that picks up this weapon takes 10d8 lightning damage (DC 18 CON save; half on success), and if they attempt to attune to it they take 10d6 thunder damage.

Zeus' Blessing

Upon creation, Zeus blessed this javelin with the power to protect it's wielder and their companions. The attuned creature gains the following effects:

  • The attuned wielder can shoot lightning out of the javelin as if they were throwing it
  • Guidance (cantrip)
  • Shield of Faith (1st level)
  • Healing Word (1st level)

Other Spells

Zeus' Javelin has 10 charges. Using these, you can cast the following spells (save DC 18; as if you were an 11th level caster unless you're already over that): Thunderwave (1 charge), Lightning Bolt (2 charges), Call Lightning (2 charges), Chain Lightning (4 charges)

Destroying the Javelin

If Zeus' Javelin is taken to the Nine Hells and put into any pool of lava, it is consumed by it and explodes in a burst of energy.

Proficiency with a Javelin allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.


This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Slow. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to it, you can reduce its Speed by 10 feet until the start of your next turn. If the creature is hit more than once by weapons that have this property, the Speed reduction doesn’t exceed 10 feet.
