Zayatta is a silver spiked chain that slithers around like a snake when no one seems to be watching.
It has a reach of 15 feet. It has the following additional properties:
Grappling Chain. As an action, the wielder can attempt a grapple check with advantage on a target that is within 15 feet of it, as Zayatta throws itself against the target and constrict it like a snake. A target grappled by the spiked chain takes 1d6 points of piercing damage every round, unless the wielder decides to retract the spikes hurting the target. A grappled target also becomes mute, unable to communicate or to cast spells with a verbal component.
Sentience. Zayatta is a sentient neutral weapon with an Intelligence of 8, a Wisdom of 14, and a Charisma of 10. It has hearing and darkvision out to a range of 120 feet.
The weapon can read, and understand Common. It has no voice, but can communicate through signs and gesture, as it can move on its own like a snake. While you are attuned to it, Zayatta also understands every language you know.
Personality. Zayatta tends to adopt personality traits of its wielder.
When it is found, it tends to be shy and a bit morose if it hasn't been used in a long time. The more it is used, the more joyful it tends to become.
Proficiency with a Flail allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Sap. If you hit a creature with this weapon, that creature has Disadvantage on its next attack roll before the start of your next turn.
