Staff, very rare (requires attunement)
This staff can be wielded as a magic Quarterstaff that grants a +3 bonus to attack rolls and damage rolls made with it.
The staff has 10 charges. When you hit with a melee attack using it, you can expend up to 3 charges. For each charge you expend, the target takes an extra 1d6 Force damage.
Regaining Charges. The staff regains 1d6 + 4 expended charges daily at dawn. If you expend the last charge, roll 1d20. On a 1, the staff becomes a nonmagical Quarterstaff.
Notes: Bonus: Magic, Damage: Force, Damage, Combat
Cool for monks
I know. As a Dm and player it is very nice for monks and it can be very us full for a monk.
This on a Champion Fighter with Polearm Master. Think about it.
I think there's a bug that's preventing my hexblade from making this a hex weapon.
maximum bonk
so in a character sheet in dnd beyond is also shows a 1d8 anyone know what that is for?
If you attack with both hands, the staff’s own damage die becomes 1d8 instead of 1d6. This does not affect the extra force damage dice granted by the staff’s magical property.
For example, attacking with one hand and spending one charge does 1d6 + your strength modifier + 3 in bludgeoning damage, as well as 1d6 in force damage.
But doing the same thing, except using both hands to attack, you deal 1d8 + your strength modifier + 3 in bludgeoning damage, as well as 1d6 in force damage.
Im a monk...just gained it.
So did I! Already so dang useful I don't think I could ever get a better weapon as a monk other than a homebrew item
So true.
There is still an error to this day that prevents hexblade warlocks from making this a pact weapon on the dndbeyond character sheet, please fix this.
When I click to roll-to-hit with Roll20 with this item, the VTT only displays the weapon info; it does not roll to hit. Is this a Beyond20 problem?
We are having the same problem, was this ever resolved?
