Simon's Bowblade is a trick weapon that functions as both a one-handed sword and a shortbow by splitting its curved blade down the middle, revealing a tight bowstring.
You can use your bonus action to transform the weapon between a +1 scimitar and a +1 shortbow. Additionally, you can use your action to perform a transforming attack with the weapon, which both transforms it and performs a unique maneuver based on which form you're initially wielding. When transformed, whether through a transforming attack or by the use of a bonus action, the weapon stays in its new form until transformed again.

When performing a transforming attack with the scimitar– make a melee attack against a creature within 5 feet of you. On a hit the target falls prone. Hit or miss, until the start of your next turn you may use your reaction to make a ranged attack with your newly transformed shortbow against any creature within 80 feet that attempts to make an opportunity attack or stands up from being prone. (Optional rule: you can also make this reaction attack when a creature in range casts a spell)

When performing a transforming attack with the shortbow– make a ranged attack against a creature within 5 feet of you. This attack doesn't have disadvantage for being within 5 feet of a hostile creature and deals an additional 2d6 Piercing damage. Additionally, the next attack roll made against that target before the start of your next turn has advantage.

As a scimitar this weapon deals 1d6 Slashing damage and has the properties: Finesse, Light
As a shortbow this weapon deals 1d6 Piercing damage and has the properties: Ammunition, Range (80/320), Two-handed.

Proficiency with a Scimitar allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
