Weapon (greatsword), legendary (requires attunement by a hour of meditation. After 30min, the user must pass a DC20 Wisdom save or be possessed by the sword's evil spirit.)

This blade, once wielded by a swordsman of immense magical power is a weapon of pure destruction. If the wielder has a strength score of at least 16, Zangetsu can be held in one hand. Additionally, the sword can be swung by the cloth hanging from the hilt, giving it the Reach property. The blade is sentient and contains two spirits that will constantly try to influence the wielder.  The two spirits are:

  • Zangetsu: The more prominent spirit that will speak to the attuned wielder the most often. He is battle-hardened and wishes to see the wielder grow stronger, in order to push his own limits. Alignment: Chaotic Good
  • The Hollow: The evil spirit of the blade that wants nothing more than to go on a rampage, killing anything and everything that would stand before it. It will often attempt to goad the wielder into acts of extreme violence and will grow stronger when they give in.

Once attuned, Zangetsu may be used in the following ways:

  • Shunpo: As a bonus action or reaction to being targeted by an attack, you may disappear in a flash of speed; reappearing in a space you can see within 60ft. This does not use any movement. This ability can be used twice per long rest.
  • Gestuga Tensho: As an action, you swing the sword with devastating force, releasing a cerulean wave of purely destructive energy in a 90-­foot line that is 5 feet wide. Every creature in that line must make a DC17 Dexterity saving throw, taking 10d10 force damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one. This ability can be used twice per long rest.
  • Parry: When another creature damages you with a melee attack, you can use your reaction to roll 1d6. Reduce the damage by the number you roll + your Dexterity modifier. Unlimited
  • Cero: As an action, you point the blade forward as it gathers ambient mana into a single point at the tip of the blade, firing it in the form of a 60-foot cone of crimson energy. Each creature in that area must make a DC 17 Dexterity saving throw, 12d8 force damage, or half as much on a successful save. If the cone's area contains allies with an intelligence score of at least 8, you can choose to force them all to fail their saving throws. If all allies fail their saves as a result of this ability, the damage of the attack is doubled. This ability greatly strengthens the evil spirit's presence within the blade. This ability can be used once every 24 hours.

Additionally, once per day, you can unleash Zangetsu's unbridled power. This ability has a 50% chance to recharge at the dawn of a new day.

  • Bankai: As a bonus action, you hold the sword high; pointing it towards the sky as you speak the word "Bankai." This releases all of Zangetsu's pent-up power and reveals its true form: A jet black, narrow blade that extends 10ft from the hilt.
    • You gain the following effects:
      • Your speed increases by 100 feet.
      • The damage delt by Getsuga Tensho and Cero is increased by 5d10 and 5d8 respectively.
      • Your Shunpo becomes Sonido, increasing its range by an additional 60ft.
      • Your Parry becomes Perfect Parry, allowing you to make a contested attack roll against an attack that targets you. If you succeed, you negate all game that would be dealt to you. This ability can be used once per Bankai transformation.

Proficiency with a Greatsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.


This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Graze. If your attack roll with this weapon misses a creature, you can deal damage to that creature equal to the ability modifier you used to make the attack roll. This damage is the same type dealt by the weapon, and the damage can be increased only by increasing the ability modifier.
