This book enables scholars or wizards to bring their libraries along with them almost anywhere. Each of its 250 pages can hold an entire book or scroll in an extradimensional space, including oversized or heavy books, magical books and scrolls, and wizard spellbooks. No other objects apart from books and scrolls can be stored in the tome.

To place a book into the tome of books, you simply lay the book on one of the tome's blank pages and speak a filling command word, which you designate. The book vanishes, and an illustration of it appears on the specified page along with its title and a brief synopsis. Only one book or scroll can be placed on each page. To remove an item from the tome, you simply open to its page and speak the retrieving command word, which you also designate at the time of its filling.

Filling or retrieving a book requires an action. Regardless of how many books the tome contains, it weighs only three pounds. The tome of books has 18 hit points; it is vulnerable to force damage that directly targets the book but immune to all other forms of damage, including force damage from an area effect. If the tome of books is destroyed, all its stored books are also lost and can't be retrieved by any means short of a wish spell (one casting of wish required to retrieve each lost book).
