The boomerang is a ranged weapon, and any creature proficient with the javelin is also proficient with this weapon.
On a miss, a boomerang returns to the thrower's hand.

Posted Mar 16, 2021So on a hit, it doesn't return to the thrower's hand? I guess that makes sense, but it seems like an expensive piece of equipment for just one ranged hit that you must either retrieve, or else hope the enemy doesn't pick it up off the ground on their turn (free object interaction).

Posted Oct 29, 2021Why are boomerangs not considered thrown weapons. They have the ranged property but not thrown. So I can use the sharp shooter feat with them and the Archery fighting style. But not the thrown weapon fighting style. Makes no sense.
