A old compass with a needle made of thin granite infused with Amphora crystals. The compass bears a strong bond with its original own and once an own is chosen, it cannot be used by another unless it is bestowed to its next owner as a gift. When traveling Amphora-charged seas the compass always know the way to the storms epicenter, providing a reliable form of navigation the most souther regions of the Lush.
Addionally, if the compass is to be disposed of without being bestowed to another master. If the compass should separate from its wearer for longer than 24 hours then the player becomes haunted by their compass. Until the user and the compass are reunited the users attunement slot cannot be released from the compass and the user has disadvantage on all survival checks until the compass is returned to its rightful owner.
The Compass provides a +5 to survival checks when navigating within the boundaries of the Etherstorm.
In addition the compass can be used to pinpoint a specific object or location. The user makes a Wisdom Saving throw (DC18). On a success the compass points in the direction of the desire if it is accessible on the current plain. The effect lasts for 1d8 hours plus the users proficiency bonus and can be used again after a long rest. On a failed save instead role a 1d8 . The compass instead points to the following based on the result:
- Nothing. Instead the compass spins aimlessly for the next 24 hours, even when attempting to use it again.
- The nearest source of food to the player
- A loose approximation of where "home" is.
- The nearest bed
- The nearest source of Alchohol
- A random member of your party, for no reason
- Your mind wanders to the last venture you visited and the compass sends you back to your last visited location.
- The compass points to the center of the Etherstorm (it continues to function as normal)
