Weapon (scimitar), artifact (requires attunement by a To attune to the blade you must have neutral or good and one must take part in a gauntlet in the mind where the blades see if the user is worthy of it's use.)

This weapon is a +3 katana that deals 1d10 damage.

backstory

The blade has a long history and has tasted the blood of the sins of the damed for decades. It's impact in history is deep as it has ties in many royal blood lines. And all the blood lines who the blade deemed worthy would live a life of great honor and battle. The last user was a demonic warlock who forced his will over the blade and cursed the blade for awhile and with it he killed whole kingdoms with the blade and created the dark world. But the blade eventually broke free from his will and helped a unknown hero slay the warlock, by burning his hand so he drooped the blade. The hero never used it but passed it down to his friend who did the same thing. Eventually making its way to a dragons lair where your players find it. (Or pull a skyrim and put it in some basement your choice)

Personality

The blade has its own thoughts and ideals. The blade wants to purge all that is evil from the world, and believes in a eye for a eye. The blade has two different sides to it the light and the dark. The blade prefers to use the light side of it, but if the user befriends it and the sword trust him it will allow the user to use the dark side of it. If the player forces the blade to use the dark side of it the blade will try and kill the user like it did with the necromancer.

Ability

The sword has two modes light and dark to alternate between the two one must use the phase "Banki"(You can use what ever you want but I watch to much bleach)  to switch between the sides. When you use each one the blade turns different colors when its in light mode it has a Golden Marble look to it. And the Dark version has a Black Golden marble look to it the hilt stays the same color which is a normal Katana hilt/handle In each form there ability change.
