Weapon (spear), artifact (requires attunement by a Warlock or Cleric)

A thin black point mounted upon a long bleached white bone. Emitting a dark aura designed to consume the souls of the living, and the dead.

While attuned the wielder has resistance to necrotic damage.

When unsheathed the player can use a bonus action to take 1d8 damage and activate the blades Necrotic Aura 

The blade also posseses 3 charges  the attuned play can expend 1 charge to cast Inflict Wounds at 1st level. Expended charges are regained after a short rest.

Necrotic Aura

Whenever a creature enters or starts their turn with melee range they take 1d4 damage, if the creature is undead this increases to 3d4.

Hungering Aura

After the necrotic aura has dealt a total of 20 damage within a single instance of combat the player takes an additional 1d8 damage and the damage dealt by the necrotic aura changes from d4 to d8.

Awakening Ego

After the blades necrotic/hungering aura has dealt a total of more than 100 damage a trace of awareness marks the blade driving its wielded to lead it to true awareness. At this point the blade gains the ability to communicate through emotions and impressions, as well as the ability to see through the attuned players senses. Whenever the attuned player is able to percieve an undead creature they must succeed on a DC 13 wisdom saving throw or be compelled by the blade to immediately attack the undead.

Hungering Ego

After the blades necrotic/hungering aura has dealt a total of more than 200 damage its ego manifests as a deep pervading hunger. The blade gains blindsight within 30ft along with the ability to speak telepathically to it wielder. The blade also gains an intelligence score of 16, a wisdom score of 15, and a charisma score of 14. In order to un-attune from the blade at this point the player needs to succeed in an opposed charisma check against the blade. The DC required to resist the blades compulsion to kill undead increases from 13 to 16.

Awakened Ego 

After the blades necrotic/hungering aura has dealt a total of more than 300 damage the blades ego finally reaches completion. It gains truesight up to 30ft and the ability to telepathically communicate to anyone within 60ft of it. Its intteligence score increases to 18, its wisdom score to 17 and its charisma score to 20.The DC required to resist the blades compulsion to kill undead increases from 16 to 19. After a successful save the attuned player needs to succeed on a DC 5 wisdom save or they will be taken over by the blade, when taken over they become a hungering force solely concerned with devouring the undead and the living, their intelligence, wisdom and charisma scores are replace by the blades.

Whenever the controlled player takes damage they can re-attempt the dc 5 wisdom saving throw.

Proficiency with a Spear allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.


This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Sap. If you hit a creature with this weapon, that creature has Disadvantage on its next attack roll before the start of your next turn.
