This shield looks nothing of the sorts and resembles a moss and grime covered tombstone more than it does a shield. This shield has an unsettling presence emitting from it, most people cannot stand looking at it for very long. 

The Debt of the Fallen: You may use your reaction to absorb the soul of a humanoid creature you can see that was felled within 15ft of you. Doing so carves the name of that creature into the front of the shield (Max of 20 names).

Unholy Communion: Release 10 souls from the shield to heal 3 targets for 2d8+your wisdom modifier

Paid in Blood: If your health ever reaches zero while attuned to this shield and it has 20 names carved on it the part of your soul that you carved into this shield draws power from the other souls and breaks from the shield re entering your body bringing you back into a conscious state and healing you for 10hp.

Tormented Souls: Every day when the clock strikes midnight you must make a wisdom saving throw (DC 8 + the number of names carved in the shield, excluding your own) On a failed save 2d4 souls break free from the shield.

Shields require the Utilize action to Don or Doff. You gain the Armor Class benefit of a Shield only if you have training with it.
