The 7 ft long haft is made from blackened steel engraved with glowing orange runes. Fine brown leather wraps allow strong grips at different sections along the haft. The wide curving blade is 18 in long and was forged from a fang given by Barbatos, an ancient wolf guardian of the Astral Sea. A wolf is engraved at the base of the blade and additional runes line the edge of the blade. When held the weapon thrums with radiant energy, after attunement the wielder hears the howling call of the wolf.
Dormant
The glaive grants the following benefits in its dormant state:
- You gain a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon, and it deals an extra 1d6 radiant damage to any target it hits.
- Spirit of Barbatos. The Wolf's Call protects you from being charmed or frightened.
Awakened
When the glaive reaches an awakened state, the blade grows in length and additional runes appear on the blade. It gains the following properties:
- The weapon’s bonus to attack and damage rolls increases to +2.
- As an action, you can use the glaive to answer the Call of the Wolf and cast haste on yourself. Once haste has been cast using the glaive, that spell can’t be cast again until the next dawn.
Exalted
When the glaive reaches an exalted state, the blade grows to its full length and a wolf's head hand guard appears around the base of the blade. It gains the following properties:
- The weapon’s bonus to attack and damage rolls increases to +3. The bonus radiant damage dealt to the target that is hit is increased to 2d6.
- You can now cast haste through the glaive twice per day.
- Howl of Barbatos. Using an action the wielder absorbs the power of Barbatos from the glaive and emits a 25 foot sphere of orange radiant light centered on the glaive's wielder. Any hostile creature caught within the sphere must make a DC 18 dexterity saving throw. A target takes 12d6 radiant damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. You cannot use this ability again until the next dawn.
Proficiency with a Glaive allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Graze. If your attack roll with this weapon misses a creature, you can deal damage to that creature equal to the ability modifier you used to make the attack roll. This damage is the same type dealt by the weapon, and the damage can be increased only by increasing the ability modifier.
