Weapon (rapier), very rare

This weapon at first glance seems to be simply a pommel-handle to some sort of blade, with a full basket cross guard. The cross guard has a spider-like appearance and design with gold webs encompassing the entirety of the Wielders hand. 

 

At will the wielder can cause a metallic root to grow from the hilt of the weapon, tapering into a fine pointed Rapier. 

The root-like blade has miniature, imperceivable needle that poison and slow, long after the blade has left.

Range 5ft melee 20/90 ranged

 

On hit the weapon does 1d8 piercing damage.

On hit the weapon does 1d6 Acid damage.

On hit the weapon does 1d6 Poison damage. 

 

If the weapon hits a target or something touches the root like blade, they must succeed a DC 13+charisma mod or they are Poisoned. Half damage and not poisoned on a success, 

On a failure the target must repeat the roll at the start of their next turn (until cured of poisoning), on a failure they’re incapacitated for their turn, wrought with a foul sickness, that bypasses even the most disease resistant creatures. (Victim vomits blood, defecates themselves, screams in pain)

 

If the root is present wielder may use a reaction to bring thanes AC up 1d4 “As the root grows swiftly moving to deflect a blow, this sacrifices current blade. (bonus action speed to grow additional root.)

Proficiency with a Rapier allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.


This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Vex. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to the creature, you have Advantage on your next attack roll against that creature before the end of your next turn.
