It is very expensive at a price of 100,000GP this thing's first casualty will always be the coin purse of the owner's coin pouch or the person who made it after trying to sell it to less-than-moral adventurers. Wilding this weapon is a status symbol that can make kings listen to you as you are no longer an adventure, you are a hero, or a villain depending on who it's pointed at.

It’s up to you to decide whether a character has proficiency with a firearm. Characters in most D&D worlds wouldn’t have such proficiency. During their downtime, characters can use the training rules in the Player’s Handbook to acquire proficiency, assuming that they have enough ammunition to keep the weapons working while mastering their use.
