Weapon (longsword), artifact (requires attunement)

You gain a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. In addition, the weapon ignores resistance to slashing damage.

When you attack a creature that has at least one head with this weapon and roll a 20 on the attack roll, you cut off one of the creature's heads. The creature dies if it can't survive without the lost head. A creature is immune to this effect if it is immune to slashing damage, doesn't have or need a head, has legendary actions, or the DM decides that the creature is too big for its head to be cut off with this weapon. Such a creature instead takes an extra 6d8 slashing damage from the hit. When this happens the creature wielding the sword could swear they can hear the sword telling them "well done". This creature gains advantage on the first attack make with this sword within the next 10 minutes.

Curse

If at any point a creature wielding this weapon misses on an attack roll Theobold the relentless awakens from his slumber within the sword to berate them for being so incapable. When this happens The creature who missed with this attack Becomes attuned to the weapon and cannot un attune from it (this causes anyone who was previously attuned to it to lose that attunement). this sword loses all other magical properties besides the attunement property and gains the following properties. Anyone wielding the sword has disadvantage on all attacks made with the weapon, they gain a -3 to hit on all attack and damage rolls as Theobold continues to berate and belittle the wielder of the weapon. Any creature who misses with an attack with this weapon must make a dc 19 constitution saving throw on a failed save they take 6d8 psychic damage or half that on a success. If the attuned wielder ever scores a critical hit while having disadvantage Theobold becomes impressed and this sword reverts to it's original form except the creature who triggered this transformation no longer activates the curse on this weapon when they miss.

Theobold the relentless was the personal guard and executioner of {insert king or queen from your setting here}. He was very good at his work and became very good at removing heads. His {Employer} rewarded him with a very powerful artifact a vorpal sword. After many years of loyal service he was wrongfully accused of treason and executed with his own sword. It's said that as his head rolled into the basket he said "you better not miss".

Personality

Idk make something fun up that fits the sword and your style and setting.

Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
